Update 01.07.08

Absolutely no running since last Tuesday. The ankle was not good and I have not tested it since for various reasons. Being, I wanted to give it as much rest as possible, work has been so hectic that my space in the mornings for a run has been severely compromised and I have developed an medical issue that has made running very difficult

So that all means very under prepared both physically and mentally for Gold Coast Marathon. Survival during the run and a finish will be the only aim.

Mentally under prepared maybe but with the base of training you have amassed, you would not have lost too much over the last week.

If your ankle can come good and you can overcome your other issues a good race is still within your reach.

As Robert Song said Eagle. I hope you can get to the line without these additional problems. It really is bloody frustrating when all this stuff comes up but I suppose that is a large part of what makes it so good when one can string together a number of solid weeks without interruption and run a great race accordingly.

Anyway, with your background you deserve and might just do a good GCM despite the setbacks.

Looks like we have the same goal!

See you soon.

Sorry to hear that Ray. You know how to run them, so that's in your favour. I hope to see you running well and enjoying it on Sunday.

Eagle,

Sorry to hear about the injury but I am sure that you are merely being ultra-conservative about your chances and in reality you will still absolutely smash GCM.

Best of luck for the weekend. Aim for that sub 3-hour goal regardless. As you've told me a number of times, even splits are the way to go, so if you start of outside of sub 3 pace, then you'll have your work cut out trying to make up time in the second half.

cheers,
Anth

Wishing you a good strong and happy run this weekend, Eagle. I have been reading your notes at CR and also want to say thanks for all your invaluable advice. Cheers, SJ (sjnathan/serena)
